I have been remiss in not getting this note out to you sooner, but I got distracted with a relocation and a new job. I did however want to let you know how impressed Faye and I were with the house you built for us in Leland. The construction was solid and the floor plan was great. In fact, the home inspector who worked for the couple that bought our home noted how solid the construction was.

What impressed Faye and me even more than the quality of the construction was the pride you take in your work and your integrity. I can honestly say that we have never worked with another contractor in any line of work with your level of integrity. You never failed to do what you said you would do. You went above and beyond when you stopped by the house eight months after the warranty had expired to perform a few minor repairs so we could close the sale of the home. Your efforts were truly appreciated. If you would like us to provide you with a reference any time in the future, please do not hesitate to call.

As for Jay Nix, he is the greatest. His work is superb and his customer and agent contact goes far beyond the norm. I worked with 2 national builders in the DC area for 8 years so I can’t help but be picky, it’s ingrained now. If I were building, I would choose Jay Nix without a doubt. I sold the home that Jay Nix built in Rocky Point in February. Obviously custom with all of the finest touches but what was also quite nice is that he thought of every contingency in his planning, no short cuts. My buyer was extremely detailed and a custom garage was contracted for as well so I was able to experience the “to be built“ phase with the builder and buyer as well. He was timely in his responses and extremely patient, willing to listen and adapt in order to keep the customer in the loop, happy and secure with the process. We purchased a lot within the community many years ago. My husband and I had selected Mr. Jay Nix to construct and build our home after extensive research and interviewing of at least a half dozen other companies. We are so pleased to have him in charge of this project. Throughout the designing process, preliminary planning and review, submission for the various boards, and actual construction, Mr. Nix has been involved and concerned. He gives much more than 100% to listening, providing and researching options when requested and leading each process with such attention to detail and precision.

Mr. Nix is so knowledgeable of the best building practices and surrounds the project with a loyal team of experienced craftsman trades. Everyone seems to work very hard to provide quality to meet higher than code standards under Mr. Nix’s leadership. They express and display the highest respect for him!

Communication with Mr. Nix has been “outstanding“. No one stays on top of things 24/7 like this man!! You can be assured he will respond to each and every question or concern with sincere attention through email, phone calls, conference calls and in person meetings. No other builder ever came close to caring about our satisfaction or “peace of mind” like Jay Nix does. He does seem “too good to be true” but he is truly great!

We so appreciate the quality workmanship and custom experience we have had during our home building process. He provided referral names and phone numbers in the beginning. Everyone expressed appreciation and satisfaction with his attention to every detail and concern throughout and after their home construction completion.

During our construction process, we had no cost over runs or allowance items that exceeded contract pricing. We know other builders operate much differently from speaking to other people that have been disappointed with their experiences.

We would like to share our thoughts with you about our friend and builder Jay Nix. Three years ago we were getting ready to retire, selling one house while thinking about building for the first time, and had a number of concerns especially since we would be living in New York State during construction.

We interviewed with 5 builders, all with long time track records in the area. In advance, we had provided them a detailed 5-page “wish list”. Jay immediately asked for more details regarding choice and quality preferences. He was 3 weeks into providing useful precise information as well as websites to consult before the other proposals began to arrive. They were so general in nature that we found them to be of little use. Jay’s energy and attention to detail continued throughout construction. We count ourselves so very lucky to have found him.

The best advice we received as we considered using a custom builder was “You have to trust your builder.”

Many contractors can build a good house, but to find one who also excels a t communication, cost control and paperwork is exceptional. We wanted to find a builder who respected our wishes to be kept informed and consulted when appropriate, resulting in no surprises in either work or cost overruns. We specially valued his continual updates allowing us to make informed decisions. Materials and information consistently arrived in a timely manner, allowing us to research and consider our choices. When my wife and I had difficulty reaching a decision, he patiently provided advice, if asked, and didn’t try to force a choice. He provided photos as the building progressed, validating details such as sizes or weights of materials that would be hidden from view as the house went up. We understand from a neighbor that a window came down and was reframed because he thought the final effect would be more balanced, add to this reports of mutual respect for and from the neighbors by all the working crews.

We can vouch for Jay’s skill and integrity, his endless patience and good humor, and meticulous record keeping. When we received a recommendation from Dan and Cathy Dore, we were a little skeptical that anyone could earn such accolades but now agree 100%. We can’t imagine going through this process without him… a real professional and gentleman.
